This Cinco De Mayo make plans to celebrate at Masa's Restaurant in Downtown Minneapolis. This award-winning restaurant with a gracious and elegant blend of modern sophistication will celebrate Mexico's heritage with style.
Chef Saul Chavez, Head Chef at Masa, produces a high end interpretation of the Mexican Cuisine to all of his food items. Chavez, a native of Michoacan, Morelia, Mexico is considered one of the most talented Chef's in the Midwest. His cooking skills and passion for traditional Mexican food is always at highest level of creativity while working with D'Amico & Partners. Chef Saul, together with Jay Sparks, the Executive Chef at Masa, (considered to be the big enchilada in the Twin Cities), have artistically designed a simple but full menu endowed with the finest ingredients and a graceful presentation. The Tamal Costeno certainly has that traditional Mexican flavor of Nayarit, Mexico, much which have to do with Chef Saul's Mother, who shared with him the secret of how to cook the authentic Mexican style. The Tamale is filled with shrimp and jalapenos and served with a portion of white rice beautifully garnished with cilantro.
Just to stay with the tradition, Masa's own short ribs in barbacoa entree, is as they say back home, to die for. The short ribs are marinated for a whole day with cerveza Negra Modelo and then served with a fusion of chiles and fresh Mexican spices giving a balancing taste far from spicy. I am proud to be able to share my culture through food with the people of Minnesota said Chef Saul. Both Chef Jay Sparks and I spend hours putting together all the fine ingredients to create flavorful food items with attention to detail added Chef Saul. Masa's menu is an exciting experience worth trying more than once. Callos de Hacha (scallops) appetizer, or mix green with sliced cactus, tossed in vinaigrette are just a few of the light items for those with small appetite or concerned with calories. Masa is preparing for the weekend celebration of the Cinco de Mayo with Margaritas, entertainment, great Mexican food, and a price-is-right happy hour from 4-6 pm with margaritas at half price and an ambience hard to find else where in the Twin Cities.
Masa is located on the corner of Nicollet and 11th Street. Valet parking is available after 6:00 pm. Masa can accommodate eight to twelve people for private room parties. Masa's carries over 9000 bottles in its wine cellar, and over 900 selections on its wine list! Lunch is served from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday evenings from 5:30 p.m. until a last seating at 9:30 p.m. For reservations to Masa's call 612.338.6272
